change-angles

playing with angles

This image was submitted by Susie via email. Susie has been following the Facebook page for ages and after I posted about trying out new angles to add interest to photos of kids she came up with this. I really like it. Do you? »

Partied Out

Partied Out

Photo submitted by Margaret Aperture f/5.6 ISO 1250 (automatically selected) and shutter speed 1/125 (automatically selected). I was happy with the lighting and the subject (I am biased!) This photo was taken after completing the session at Dee Why Beach on Saturday 8th November. Photo was taken indoors. »

Bright eyes

Bright eyes

Another from Erika… “My little girl wanted me to take a picture of her with her new bows in her hair. I don’t remember what camera it was with but it was an early morning photo.” My feedback… Hi Erika, another lovely image. The exposure, colour and contrast are spot on. Your focus is good and again the eyes are nice and sharp. It looks like you’ve used on camera... »

First day of school

First day of school

This image was sent in by Erika from South Dakota. “This was taken for the first day of school so middle of Aug 2013 about 7am. The camera I used was a Canon Powershot sx 40 hs.” My feedback Hi Erika, this is a gorgeous image. Your daughter is beautiful and you’ve captured a moment that every mum/mom wants to remember – that first day! I love that you’ve gone in nice ... »

These images have been submitted by Amy.   Amy said…   “Here are some photos i took of my girls (C. 3 years and L. 8 months) on the weekend. They are ‘staged’ as I’ve been waiting to do Autumn leave photos and photos of the girls dressed up. Normally I just take photos of them playing. I tried to eliminate background distraction or use the background as a fe... »

Jake

Jake

We were at the playground and I captured my son deep in concentration. It is taken on my Canon 450D on AV mode, ISO 1600, 184mm, f 5.6, 1/160. How could I have made this a better shot? »

“Noah”

Miss Lily

Miss Lily

This photo was taken on my Canon EOS 60D on the Av exposure mode, ISO 640, 141mm, f11, 1/50. I was trying for a long time to take this photo of Lily, as she kept moving and she would crawl too close for me to keep my focus. In the end, I put her in the high chair with a rusk, which meant I captured a crumbly face. However with the food and highchair, I was able to make Lily face our back window, w... »

My handsome man

My handsome man

I love the detail in the two images where he’s eating a cookie. These were taken at full zoom, on AV setting, ISO 200. My only complaint is that the blueness of his eyes is hidden in the shadow of his cap. Is there a solution to this? Other than remove the cap. I really like the action of Lachlan jumping off the rock. However it is very dark. This was on TV setting, with ISO still at 200. Wo... »

Seagulls and Sea!!!

Seagulls and Sea!!!

Here are my favourite images from the workshop at Dee Why last weekend. This was the first time I’ve taken my camera off the auto setting so it was fun to play around with aperture, shutter speed and ISO. I would love to know how you think I could improve these shots. Thanks so much, Sally »
