“I took this at a father’s Day picnic on Sunday. I took it on my brand new camera which I’m just learning to use. The settings were all on automatic but I’m hoping to learn to use the other settings when I come to your workshop during the school holidays” Sue
Sue, lovely photo. My suggestion would be to try to get some light on her eyes. At the moment her eyes are in shadow. A simple way to add more impact to photos of your child is to see the reflection of the light source in their eyes (called catchlights). This will add life and sparkle to your photos. Before you snap the photo check that you can see the catchlights. If you can’t, adjust your position or the camera angle or ask your child to tilt their head slightly.
