Sydney Photography Workshop Image Review

Focus problems? No way!

This beautiful image was submitted by Rachel after a recent workshop. The photo was taken at Balmoral Beach in the shade as the sun was quite bright.

Rachel was concerned that she was having trouble with focus and getting sharp images. No problem here Rachel. A gorgeous image where the focus falls exactly where it should, on the eyes. Every eyelash stands out – well done!

There are only two bits of feedback I would give. Firstly maybe try for slightly wider depth of field by using an aperture of f4 or f5.6 (shot at f2.8) so that the Twistie she is eating is a bit sharper. The out of focus Twistie actually distracts from the gorgeous face because it draws the eye. Secondly, a quick swipe with a Wet Ones can save hours in Photoshop trying to clean up a dirty, Twistie smeared face.
